Two persons had introduced the hip-hop music culture in America. One is
Russell Simons and the other is Rick Rueben. They are the founder of def
jam, one of the most popular musical cultures of America.
Frederick Jay Rick Rueben was born in New York on 10th march, 1963. He is
a Jewish by born.
Presently Rick Rueben is the co-head of the famous
production house Columbia Records. Rap and heavy metal are the two
favorite genres of this musician.
This great musician was the co founder of
Def Jam Records with Russell Simons.
While Rick was a student of Long Beach High School he had learnt some
music lessons from Steve Freeman who was the AV Director of the school.
He then formed a punk band that was known as The Pricks.
It was not very
popular among the other bands of that time.
Rick Rueben starts to learn about hip-hop music when he met DJ Jazzy
Jay. In the year 1983 Rueben and Jay released their rap production “It’s
Yours”. Famous producer Arthur Baker helped them a lot to distribute their
records all over the world.
In the year 2007 Rueben got the Grammy Award for his best works. He has
got the award for the producer of the year. Previously he got the Grammy
Award for the best country album (for Unchained and Johnny Cash) in
1998.
In 2007 he got 5 Grammy awards for his works. Best Rock Album
award for Red Hot Chili Peppers and Stadium Arcadium. He has got the
producer of the year award for his non classical music productions and
got other three Grammy Awards.
