Mannie Fresh was born with name Byron Thomason March 20, 1974; however, his career with music got him quite a few other identities; those are Freshly Snipes and Mannie Glover. He is the former producer of New Orleans-based record label, "Cash Money Records". However, Fresh does not work much outside his own label of Cash Records. He puts more emphasis on the in-house artists of the Cash Money and produces their records. Some of his hit productions are "Back That Azz Up" (Juvenile), "The Block Is Hot" (Lil' Wayne) and "Bling Bling" (B.G).
Mannie's debut in the world of music was as a member of the New Orleans first hip-hop crew in the year 1984. This brought him to the attention of famous rapper Gregory D. Mannie later in the year 1987, produced an album for Gregory on D&D records featuring the album "Throwdown". Gregory and Mannie later, in collaboration produced "D Rules The Nation on Yo! Records, in the year 1989. Although this album had Miami Bass, they strive to create some style that would be new to the duo's creation. Although, later this duo did not work together for long, they are together considered as the earliest pioneers of Bounce Music.
During the period from 1998 to 2001, cash Money Records saw its golden days under Mannie Fresh and could churn out many platinum and multiplatinum record albums with a huge yearly turnover. However, due to certain controversies, Cash Records suffered heavy loses and the worst time came for the label when few of the stars of Cash Money left the album.
